We would like to warmly welcome you to Shears Green Junior School. We are really excited to be working together with you, as we support your child through the next important stage of their primary education.
At Shears Green Junior School, we believe that education is about inspiring young children to open their minds to a lifetime of learning. We are a large school and believe that children learn better when they are excited and engaged. What excites children most is truly excellent teaching, that challenges and promotes independence in learning.
We believe all class work should be relevant, valued by the child, challenging with built-in rigour. If children are to progress in tomorrow’s world they will need to be independent from an early age. It is vital children develop the skills and strategies of how to learn rather than being in the habit of being taught right the way through school from self-initiated activities to creative research projects in Year 6.
At Shears Green Junior School we want all of our children to achieve their full potential. You can help us to realise this by supporting your child at home with regular reading, help with homework and encouraging them to become independent learners.
We offer the children a robust education in class and extend this to before and after-school clubs. Our pastoral care is excellent, and includes our: SENCO and Inclusion Manager; Class Teachers and Teaching Assistants, our Family Liaison Officer; a Learning Mentor; a part time Counsellor and a Listening Ear.
We know that you and your child will enjoy your time with us at Shears Green Junior School. Please do not worry about asking questions – we are all here to become lifelong learners!
